Trend Micro Apex Central data must be stored in an SQL database. When you install Trend Micro Apex Central on a server that does not have its own database, the installation program provides the option to install the Microsoft SQL Express. However, due to the limitations of SQL Express, large networks require an SQL server.

Note

Trend Micro Apex Central uses SQL and Windows authentication to access the SQL server.
