The Trend Micro Management Communication Protocol (MCP) is the Trend Micro Apex Central communications backbone. MCP implements the following policies:
  • MCP Heartbeat: The MCP heartbeats to Trend Micro Apex Central ensure that Trend Micro Apex Central displays the latest information and that the connection between the managed product and the Trend Micro Apex Central server is functional.
  • MCP Command Polling: When an MCP agent initiates a command poll to Trend Micro Apex Central, Trend Micro Apex Central notifies the agent to send managed product logs or issues a command to the managed product. Trend Micro Apex Central also interprets a command poll as a passive heartbeat verifying the connection between Trend Micro Apex Central and the managed product.
