Install and configure the TMWS Agent app for your Android device to forward web traffic to TMWS.
Before you begin, make sure that:
  • You have prepared an Android device running Android 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, or 14.
  • If your organization's administrator provides you the TMWS cloud root CA certificate, import the certificate to your Android device.

Procedure

  1. Search for the TMWS Agent app from Google's Play Store, and tap Install.
  2. Open the app and tap ACCEPT AND CONTINUE on the Privacy and Personal Data Collection Disclosure screen.
  3. On the Access User Portal screen that appears, check whether your organization's user portal address is automatically populated and tap NEXT.
    If your organization's administrator provided an user portal address to you, type this user portal address instead of using the automatically populated address.
  4. Type your logon credentials when prompted.
    The TMWS Welcome to TMWS End User Portal screen appears.
  5. Tap Copy Token.
  6. On the Get Your Token screen, check whether your token is automatically populated, and tap INSTALL.
  7. Follow the system prompts and wait until the VPN profile is successfully installed.
  8. When the CA Certificate screen appears, tap SET UP to install the Trend Micro Web Security Cloud Root CA certificate.

    If you do not install the CA certificate, you may not be able to access websites normally.
    The setting path for step 9 to step 13 may vary by device manufacturer.
  9. On the Security screen that appears, select Advanced.
  10. Select Encryption & credentials and then select Install a certificate.
  11. Select CA certificate on the Install a certificate screen and then tap Install anyway.
  12. Tap the threebarsicon.png icon in the upper left corner and select Downloads.
  13. Select and install the TMWSCA_Cloud_ROOT.crt file.
    After the CA certificate is installed, a success message appears on the Install a certificate screen and in the system notifications.
  14. After the installation, the TMWS Mobile VPN service is disconnected by default.
  15. Tap the Disconnected button and then tap OK when the Connection request dialog box appears.
  16. Wait a few seconds until the button turns to Connected.
    The TMWS Mobile VPN service is connected on your Android device.
  17. (Optional) Open a web browser and go to http://diagnose.iws-hybrid.trendmicro.com.
    If the connection status for TMWS is Yes, TMWS is working properly on the device.

    The TMWS Mobile VPN Service may disconnect after an Android device auto-locks.

What to do next

Open the TMWS Agent app, tap the threebarsicon.png icon in the upper left corner, and then perform the following as necessary:
  • Tap About to view the version and other information about the app.
  • Tap Reinstall VPN Profile to go back to the Access User Portal screen to reinstall the VPN profile.
  • Tap Help to learn more about the app and TMWS.
