Learn how to calculate your credit usage based on your Network Sensor configuration.

The credit requirements for XDR for Networks features are based on the throughput monitored by your configured Network Sensors. Trend Vision One draw down credits from your balance every month based on your usage.
You can view your current credit usage for each XDR for Networks feature by clicking Manage usage in Network Security. The credit usage reflects your actual usage in the past days from the start of the current billing cycle up to yesterday. It corresponds to the highest daily throughput of a network sensor type, after excluding the highest 15% daily throughputs in this period. For this reason, the credit usage may change throughout the month.

Virtual Network Sensor
Deploy and connect the Virtual Network Sensor to monitor network activity.
1,041.67 credits per 500 Mbps of monitored throughput
  • Trend Vision One calculates the total throughput monitored by all your Virtual Network Sensors every hour.
It uses the peak hourly throughput in a day as the daily throughput, which is rounded up to the next 500 Mbps increment for billing.
  • Trend Vision One uses snapshot-based calculation to determine your monthly credit usage. That means it excludes the top 15% of daily throughputs in a month, and uses the next highest daily throughput for calculation. Decimals are rounded to the nearest whole number.
Example:
For September (30 days), Trend Vision One excludes the 4 days with the highest daily throughputs. Of the remaining 26 days, the highest daily throughtput—4.7 Gbps on September 20—is rounded up to 5 Gbps (5000 Mbps) for billing.
The system calculates your credit usage as follows:
5000 Mbps ÷ 500 Mbps × 1,041.67 = 10,416.7 credits
10,416.7 credits round up to 10,417 credits, which is your credit usage for Virtual Network Sensor in September.
Deep Discovery Inspector Network Sensor
Connect the Deep Discovery Inspector appliance and enable the Network Sensor feature to monitor network traffic.
1,041.67 credits per 500 Mbps of monitored throughput
  • Trend Vision One measures the monitored throughput of a Deep Discovery Inspector Network Sensor by the Deep Discovery Inspector model size (maximum supported throughput).
  • Trend Vision One calculates the total model size of all Deep Discovery Inspector appliances with the Network Sensor feature enabled every hour.
Example:
You have two Deep Discovery Inspector appliances with the model size of 1 Gbps.
For September (30 days), Trend Vision One excludes the 4 days with the highest daily throughputs. Of the remaining 26 days, the highest daily throughtput is 2 Gbps (2000 Mbps) on September 20, when the Network Sensor feature is enabled on both the Deep Discovery Inspector appliances.
The system calculates your credit usage as follows:
2000 Mbps ÷ 500 Mbps × 1,041.67 = 4166.68 credits
4166.68 credits round up to 4167 credits, which is your credit usage for Deep Discovery Inspector Network Sensor in September.
TippingPoint Network Sensor
Connect your TippingPoint SMS and enable the Network Sensor feature on managed appliances to monitor network traffic.
1,041.67 credits per 500 Mbps of monitored throughput
  • Trend Vision One calculates the total throughput monitored by all your TippingPoint Network Sensors every hour.
It uses the peak hourly throughput in a day as the daily throughput, which is rounded up to the next 500 Mbps increment for billing.
